happy birthday, dad!

So it was my dad's birthday yesterday and I've always gotten him Buddha related presents for years now. So I thought I'd draw him something Buddha inspired. Not really sure how the lotus flowers came to be, but I like the touch.

hipster iguana

Forgot to upload this earlier. Tons of iguanas at the keys just running all over the place.

Sketch Dump: Monsters and Hemingway Cats

A couple friends and I visited the Keys this past week. One of the places we went was the Hemingway House which is famous for it's polydactyl cats.

Super quick sketch of the house.

 Anna and some desert monsters.

What if snails had tusks and nipples? That'd be cool.

My pen dyed half way through this character sketch and I had to use another one. Time for new supplies.

Started thinking about what bats would look like if they were wingless quadrupeds. I came up with the two on the left, and I particularly like the large one on the top. Then I got bored and doodled on the right.

I had a choking scare yesterday. We got as far as the hospital parking lot before I cleared everything from my lungs. Luckily we didnt have to go in and it could have been much worse. Still, it was a bit emotionally unsettling and this happened shortly afterward.

Obsession

Obsession: the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, ect.

My friend Anna and I decided to work with a theme this past week, the theme being "obsession". I had a really hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. I didnt end up liking any of my rough sketches and eventually I decided to go down a different road all together. When I was a kid I was OBSESSED with wolves. I literally wanted to be a wolf and would spend hours thinking about it. I was a weird kid with a big imagination. I guess thats how this particular idea came fruition.

I really like the way the color turned out, but I wish I had spent more time on the line art. But for the sake of time and my sanity I really wanted to wrap this up.
